“UNCF Local Evening of Stars and Silent Auction – January 26â€?

uncf1.jpgThe Durham UNCF Steering Committee invites the citizens of Durham to the local “ Evening of Stars and Silent Auction� to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street Durham, NC., from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The UNCF Gala, “An Evening of Stars and Silent Auction“, will feature some outstanding star stunned talent that include the following:

Contemporary Gospel Singer – Ms. Cynthia Jones
Internationally known — Gospel Jubilators
Jazz Vocalist and Composer — Lois Deloatch
Internationally known — The Stanley Baird Group
Energetic, talented Youth group-Carolina Dance Theatre

The confirmed evening Host Commentators for the evening are Ms. Melissa Wade, of Radio 103.9 The Light; Ms. Tamara Gibbs, ABC Channel 11 News Reporter; and Dr. Allan Mask, Special Health and Medical Reporter on WRAL Channel 5 News.This event is free and open to the public. Donations for UNCF will be accepted. Local UNCF students, faculty and friends will be in attendance. All proceeds will be used for UNCF scholarships and support.

The United Negro College Fund’s (UNCF) mission is to enhance the quality of education by providing financial assistance to deserving students, raising operating funds for member colleges and universities, and increasing access to technology for students and faculty at private historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Since its inception in 1944, UNCF has grown to become the nation’s oldest and most successful African American education assistance organization.

This Black Tie fundraiser will give everyone an opportunity to meet and hear students share how these funds have made a college education possible for them. Many of these students are first generation college students. All proceeds will go to United Negro College Fund

Lois Deloatch, legendary vocalist and songwriter, will perform at this benefit gala.
