The Board of Directors of the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the 9th annual Spirit of Hayti Awards Gala will be held Thursday evening, March 20, 2008, at 5:30 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, 3001 Cameron Boulevard, Durham, NC. This black tie fundraising event will include dinner and silent auction with live entertainment.
The Spirit of Hayti Awards Ceremony & Gala was established by the Foundation to honor individuals and organizations that have strong roots in the Durham community, exemplify outstanding leadership qualities, and have made significant contributions in the areas of art, historic preservation, or education. Some past recipients of the Spirit of Hayti Award include: Dr. John Hope Franklin, Dr. Charles “Chuck� Davis, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Mr. Benjamin Ruffin, Representative Henry “Mickey� Michaux, Jr., Dr. Benjamin F. Speller, Jr., GlaxoSmithKline, Capital Broadcasting Company/Durham Bulls Baseball Club/WRAL, and Time Warner Cable.
This year’s honorees are still being confirmed and will be announce in coming days. Tickets are $100 per person (a portion is tax deductible). Proceeds from the gala, help to ensure the continued programming success and operation of the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation – Hayti Heritage Center.
