The St. Joseph's Historic Foundation, Inc. (SJHF)

The St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation, Inc. (SJHF) founded in 1975, is an African American cultural and educational institution deeply rooted in the historic Hayti community of Durham, North Carolina. SJHF is dedicated to advancing cultural understanding through diverse programs that examine the experiences of Americans of African descent – locally, nationally and globally. The Foundation is committed to preserving, restoring and developing the Hayti Heritage Center, the former St. Joseph’s AME Church, a National Historic Landmark, as a cultural and economic anchor to the greater Durham community.

St. Joseph's Historic Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit, charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

The events in this section are not directly sponsored by the Hayti Heritage Center or the St. Joseph's Historic Foundation. The Hayti Heritage Center services the community as a rental facility providing space for various events throughout the year. Although the events in this section are not directly sponsored by the Hayti Heritage Center or the St. Joseph's Historic Foundation, we assist in promoting them in an effort to support other local organizations and to help spread the word about all of the wonderful things going on here in Durham.

Living Positive

June 25, 6-8 pm

“Living Positive” is a PSA project of AmeriCorps AIDS United Team Carolina, featuring 13 North Carolinians living with HIV, encouraging and empowering individuals who are newly-diagnosed with HIV!

We’ve put our hearts and souls into this project for the past year and we have a wonderful video to show for it! Check out our blog “Living+” for introductions of our participants and previews of our video: bit.ly/livingpositive

“Living Positive” is useful for individuals regardless of HIV status, as well as clinics, testing sites, and HIV/AIDS/health agencies. Not only does it offer hope to those living with HIV, but it offers insight into the lives of successful, healthy, and happy individuals who are thriving in spite of HIV/AIDS.

Please join us as we unveil this PSA for the first time and celebrate the lives of HIV-positive individuals, long-term survivors and new fighters!

We will have FREE FOOD and time for speaking with some of the participants formally and informally!

PLEASE RSVP FOR THIS EVENT SO WE KNOW HOW MUCH FOOD TO SERVE! THANK YOU! You can RSVP on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/events/194142377378091/ or email Josh Wynne at jewynne@gmail.com
